Room in Progress
April 21st, 2008
I’m still on that home decorating kick of a few weeks back, and here’s the latest update.
The duvet, IKEA: $50
The matching lamps, Linens N’ Things: $25
The rug, Urban Outfitters: $50
The round mirror–far wall–, Meijer: $60?
You’ll notice random papers taped up to the wall above my bed. I’m sort of playing around with a framing arrangement, still to be determined.
Slowly, but surely (and fairly frugally, due to the spacing out of buying), things are coming together.

That looks great, it’s coming together really well! I definitely have a spending weakness when it comes to my home. apartmenttherapy.com does not help (but is very pretty). But it looks like you’re doing this on a pretty thin budget, which is even more impressive.
Wow, I really like it…especially the wall color!! Do you happen to remember what color you used?
I can’t wait to start decorating my own place, at least I’ll have a long time to save up before then! I get giddy just thinking about it! I love apartmenttherapy too! Definitely not frugal, but it does give me inspiration.
Hi, I work for a company that manages and tracks gift cars and I’ve been monitoring ‘Linens-N-Things’ on google alerts and your blog came. Since Linen’s-N-Things began to file for bankruptcy, I’ve been discussing the potential for their gift cards to become void and have been commenting about that arena. We have a blog rolling on savvywallet.com. Pretty cool room by the way. I’m going to check out apartmenttherapy.com….
Looks good!
Did you ever get shelves up?
Thanks, everybody! Yeah, I am AT’s biggest fan.
QL: I’ve had a few people ask me that, and I feel so bad that I don’t know. It was a special blend they made for me, based on a Ralph Lauren texturized color–like I liked the color but I didn’t want textured walls, so the paint store made a blend.
FGS: Sadly, no. And to be honest, my heart’s not in it anymore. I think for a long while I’ll be sticking to things that are easy to install and remove.
It looks lovely! The red shiny pillows are very luxurious looking! What a great idea, taping paper up on the walls to figure out where to hang photos! Brilliant, I say! Brilliant!
I love that rug!
It’s so pretty and organized! I’d love to see the final framing arrangement as I am redoing the art in my apartment. Your room puts me to shame! I’m so messy right now!
Thanks, everyone! More pictures to follow.
