PF Blog #5: Make Love, Not Debt
I only found Make Love, Not Debt a few weeks ago, but I looove it!
Great writing, great design, great topics.
I’m not married or in a long-term relationship, but of course I still get the issues of relationships and money. My ex-BF and I talked about it a lot and I already could tell it would have been an issue for us. This site brings that up and wants to talk about it. Everyone thinks about this stuff, but too often we feel uncomfortable talking about it with our peers. This, seriously, is what makes PF blogging so important.
Like some of my other favorites, MLND shows us their budget: here and here.
Added bonus: Because the site is already so popular, there are great discussions, like this one on lending friends money.

It is interesting that people are willing to sexually hookup with a stranger but would not even think about talking about their credit report. Why? They feel the credit report is far too intimate.
We also can’t lose sight of the fact that opposites do attract in relationships and typically savers attract spenders.
No doubt that it is better to talk over money, credit and debt issues if the relationship is moving along. Never too early to be honest.
Yeah, I think you’ve touched on something really true here. Like the intimacy of a physical relationship isn’t such a big deal now (in terms of how many, how often, different partners, etc.), yet the intimacy of money (!!) has become more personal than ever.
Relationships and Money, isn’t strange how so many subjects that were once taboo are now freely spoken about. However, when it comes to money our attitudes our debt etc, we prefer to keep that as our own little secret.
How many time have you heard friends say they didn’t tell their partner the true cost of an item they purchased? It makes you wonder doesn’t it why we are so scared of being open about money?
Look around you and think about where you attitudes towards money came from.
