Ugh. I would hate to lose/hurt a friendship. On the other hand, the cost of living alone is steep!

When I was in college, one of my best friends asked me to be her roommate the next year. I had this strong conviction to not request my roommates because I was afraid of losing friends/missing making new ones/whatever. She requested another of our friends, and they got super-close. I'm still tight with her, but sometimes I wondered if I made a mistake.

Sigh. We'll see about this one. The good thing is this friend and I have lived together before--during our senior year of undergrad. She's the most easy-going person I know.

I lived in a house with five other people my sophomore year of college. After that experience, I'm friends with one of them. Then again, I also had a wonderful time sharing an apartment with a good friend for junior and senior years. I think it's a matter of basic lifestyle compatibility and ability to discuss things straightforwardly.

As to the fortunes...I recently got one that said, "Perhaps you have been focusing too much on saving."

Agreed with SF. Living with someone can turn pretty disastrous. Even though I love all my friends, I'm pretty particular with the way I like to organize, clean, set up my own space ... and I honestly couldn't see myself living with any of my friends.

Two of my best friends moved in together while we were in college, and now they're barely speaking to each other because they got so annoyed living in such a small apartment together for 2 years. All because one is a neat freak, and the other is kind of lazy.

It depends on how strong of a friendship you have. It can be both a blessing and a curse to have a friend as a roommate. during my internship I contemplated moving in with a friend. If you seriously are considering moving in with a friend it's best to have an honest discussion and lay down all the issues before moving. It saves each person a lot of heartache and headache.
